Virginia (Gensale) Cataldo, a resident of Medford since 1978, formerly of England and beloved wife of Francesco Cataldo, died at her home in Medford on Sunday, January 15, 2012. She was 83 years old.
Born in Montefallione Avellino, Italy on October 4, 1928, Virginia was the beloved daughter of the late Giuseppe and Virginia (Ciampa) Gensale. Mrs. Cataldo was a communicant of St. James church in Medford for many years. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always providing for her beloved family. She enjoyed cooking for her loved ones.
She will be sorely missed by her loving children; Giovanni and his wife Assunta Cataldo, Mario and his wife Dwenda and Francesco and his wife Anne Cataldo, all of England, Romana and her husband Angelo Tiampolillo of Stoneham, Sylvana and her husband Jeff Householder of Derry, New Hampshire, Lidia and her husband Charlie Henderson of Tewksbury, Anna Cataldo of Stoneham and Maria Cataldo of Reading, sister; Grace and her husband Gino Lembo of Dedham, brother; Armando and his wife Genoeffa of Torino, Italy, eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral was held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 10:30 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, from 4 to 8 PM. Entombment was in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
