Roman Melendez, 73, a resident of Lawrence, died on January 15th, 2012 at the Lawrence General Hospital.
Mr. Melendez was born On November 18th 1938 To Justo and Sixta (Lopez) Melendez in Guayama, Puerto Rico. Later he moved to the United States in 1970. Here he worked for over 23 years as a Line Leader for Malden Mills in Lawrence until his retirement.
According to his family he loved and adored his many many grandchildren.
He is the husband of the late Maria (Ruiz) Melendez. Mr. Melendez is survived by his 7 children Rosa Callazo Ramos and her husband Pedro of Florida, Daniel Caraballo of Florida, Rey DeJesus of Manchester, NH, Ruben Melendez and his wife Lourdes of Lawrence, Sandra and Benito Gonzalez of Lawrence, Edwin Melendez and his wife Viviana of Lawrence, Julio Melendez of Haverhill. As well as his three sisters Zulma, Rosa and Santiaga all of Puerto Rico.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 10:00AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lawrence. A final committal service will take place following at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lawrence.
