Robert P. Guilmet age 80 of Salem, NH, died Friday, Jan 13th at the Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH. He was the husband of Marie A. (Fusco) Guilmet, with whom he shard 46 years of marriage.
Born in Lawrence, MA on Aug. 1, 1931, he was the son of the late Philias & Corinne V. (Godbout) Guilmet. He attended Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, MA, and Merrimack College in No. Andover, MA, graduating in 1960, Magna Cum Laude with a BS in accounting.
Mr. Guilmet served 4 years in the US Marine Corp from 1951–1955, during the Korean War. He was employed by the US Internal Revenue Service from 1960-1988 and retired as an Associate Chief, Appeals in 1988. He worked during his early retirement years as a realtor in NH and as a mutuals operative at Rockingham Park in Salem, NH.
Mr. Guilmet served St. Joseph’s Parish in Salem as a spiritual leader of youth for many years. He also taught accounting at Merrimack College for 15 years following his graduation in 1960.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters and their husband: Michelle A. & John P. Hogarty of Manchester, NH, Lynne M. & Mark R. Mullett of Salem, NH. He was blessed by the arrival of his grandson Ryan Patrick Hogarty ion 2007.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, Jan.18th from 2-6 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Funeral services will be private.
