Muriel F. Gorton, 88 of Danville, NH, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004 in the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH. Muriel was born in Hampstead, NH on May 10, 1915, a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Clifford) Gorton. She was a resident of Fox Den Retirement Community in Sandown, NH for the past four years, formerly living in Hampstead for many years. Muriel was a graduate of Hampstead High School, Class of 1930 and a graduate of Plymouth State College. She was employed as an office manager for Raytheon Corp. in Waltham, MA. She was a member of the Hampstead Historical Society and a member of the Hampstead Congregational Church where she was involved with the Crib Room. Muriel enjoyed skiing and was involved with the Hampstead Trail System which she enjoyed walking.
She is survived by her brother, George Gorton and his wife Barbara of Danville, two sisters, Lillian Agersea and her husband Clifford of Saugus, MA, Margaret Littlefield of Sandown, many nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 27th at 10:00am in the Hampstead Congregational Church, 61 Main St., Hampstead. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hampstead Historical Society, Hampstead, NH 03841. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
