Alan Boyd Gill, 49, of Tifton died Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2012, at Tift Avenue Church of God. Rev. Joseph L. Crumley and Rev. Dan McEachin will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Nephews and the Church Council of Tift Avenue Church of God will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 14, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Alan was born on July 7, 1962 in Tifton and was the son of Carlene Goff Gill of Tifton and the late Thurmon Gill. He was a truck driver and attended Tift Avenue Church of God. He enjoyed helping other people and had lived in Tifton his entire life.
In addition to his mother, Alan is survived by a special friend, Deena Fletcher of Tifton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Ann Gill of Tifton and Roger and Faye Gill of Fleming Island, Florida; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra and Earl Copeland, Doris and James Rutherford and Melissa and Chip Rhodes, all of Tifton; special nieces, Breanna Smith and Kecia Tomlin; and special nephews, Kyle Rutherford, Keith Rutherford, Monty Copeland, Adam Gill, Blake Gill and Brad Gill.
