RAYNHAM – Jose L. Duarte, husband of Angela M. (Barboza) Duarte, died at his home surrounded by his family on Jan. 10, 2012.
He was 72.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Jose and Maria (Medeiros) Duarte.
He was educated in Portugal and served proudly in the Portuguese Army.
Mr. Duarte came to this country in 1963.
He was employed as a mason with Local #3 for thirty-three years working for various companies, retiring in 1993.
He most recently worked for Wal-Mart in Raynham as a stocker for seven years bringing much joy to anyone he met.
He was a forty-year member of Local #3.
Mr. Duartee was an avid sports fan and enjoyed going to casinos, traveling and dining with his wife.
Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family.
He was a communicant of St. Ann Church.
Besides his wife of fifty years, he leaves a son, David L. Duarte of W. Greenwich, RI; a daughter, Paula M. Higgins and her husband Ronald of Taunton; a brother, Edgrado Duarte of Fall River; a sister, Dina Moto of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Eric Duarte, Jessica Higgins and Danielle Duarte; a great granddaughter, Gina Duarte; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday Jan. 13th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Ann Church, Raynham at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 12th from 5 to 8 p.m.
