Obituary

EAST BRIDGEWATER - Rev. John W. Corcoran, 75, of St. John Church in East Bridgewater died Monday from complications from surgery in Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

Born June 16, 1928 in Boston, he was a son of the late John W. and Mary M. (Wall) Corcoran.

He was educated at St. John Seminary and ordained on Feb. 2, 1953 at the Holy Cross Cathedral in Boston.

Rev. Corcoran retired Jan. 31, 2004, after 25 years of serving the community of East Bridgewater and St. John Church.

Previously, he was the Chaplain at Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton and an administrator at Sacred Heart Parish in Newton.

Rev. Corcoran was a member of the Knights of Columbus council 488 in Bridgewater.

He is survived by a brother, of Robert Corcoran of Milton; three sisters, Mary Ryan of Ballston Lake, N.Y., and Margaret O’Brien and Katherine Trask, both of Scituate and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Patricia Haughey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in St. John Church, 210 Central St., East Bridgewater. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater. Arrangements are by the Wales-Prophett Funeral Home, 35 Spring St., East Bridgewater.
