Garlon E. Meeks , age 79, of Douglas, GA passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012. Mr. Meeks was the son of the late Quincy and Daisey Henry Meeks. He served in the
U.S. Army during Vietnam War. Mr. Meeks retired in 1982.
Mr. Meeks is survived by. Three sons, Jerry (Debbie) Meeks, of Willacoochee, GA., Al Meeks, of East Dublin, GA., and Grady Meeks, of Douglas, GA,; One daughter, Judie (Mike) O’Steen, of Willacoochee, GA. Two brothers, Marlon A. Meeks, of Lyons, GA., James Meeks, of Thomasville, GA.; Five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded, in death by his wife Bobbie Jean Chaffin Meeks.
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, January 11, at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Levi Jones officiating. Interment followed at Douglas City Cemetery, with U.S. Army providing military honors. Music was furnished for the service by CD’s “Amazing Grace” by Suzan Boyle, and “When I Get To Where I’m Going”, and “Go Rest High on That Mountain” by Vince Gill.
