BRIDGEWATER - Russell P. Cook Jr., 67, of Bridgewater died Monday, March 22, at home after a lengthy illness.
Born Nov. 7, 1936 in Arlington, he was a son of the late Russell P. Cook Sr. and Lillian (French) Cook.
Raised and educated in Arlington, he was a resident of Bridgewater for the past 27 years.
Mr. Cook was the owner of Julio’s Cafe and Cook Realty, both in Bridgewater for more than 20 years.
He was a member the National Guard. He was also a member of the Lion’s Club in Bridgewater, where he had received the Melvin Jones award.
Mr. Cook devoted his time to raise money for various charities and was an antique car collector.
He is survived by a son, Edward Cook of Waltham; a daughter, Karen McKay of Waltham; a stepson, Harland White and his wife Laura of Bridgewater; three grandchildren, Andrea McKay, Brendan McKay and Evan Collins; three brothers, Gerald Cook of Miami, Fla., Leroy Cook of Billerica and Kenneth Cook of Reading; a sister, Donna Ross of Billerica; his former wife, Nancy (Pordum); a surrogate daughter, Laurie McDonough and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
His funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. James Church, Arlington. Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
Visiting hours Wednesday 3-8 p.m. in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater. Additional visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. in the DeVito Funeral Home, 1145 Massachusetts Ave., Arlington Heights.
