Obituary

Dr. Carlton W. DeMoranville, 70, of Lakeville, died January 8, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of Joyce (Argyros) DeMoranville.  He was the third and youngest son of Doris Rose (Machiel) and Wilfred Thomas DeMoranville, born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on April 8, 1941.

As a young man, he was employed as a refrigeration engineer at Crystal Ice in New Bedford and at Acushnet Process before joining the Polaroid Corporation, where he worked for many years before retiring and embarking on a successful career in real estate which he maintained until his death.

In his early years he was an accomplished guitarist and performed in a bluegrass music group.
He was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins and the Dallas Cowboys.  Carl was a highly respected youth hockey coach during the late 1970’s and early 80’s and guided several teams, which included all three of his sons at one time or another, through championship seasons.

Carl was a deeply religious man with a simple, steadfast faith. He was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Somerset. Carl was highly educated and earned doctorates in both Theology and Philosophy and authored a number of distinguished papers and books.  His true gifts, however, were teaching and lecturing on biblical principles. He thoroughly enjoyed composing and delivering his beautiful and inspirational sermons and looked forward to meeting his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Carl was beloved by all his family and he took great pride in his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Troy DeMoranville and his wife Catherine, and Craig DeMoranville, all of Lakeville; his daughter, Kristen Hansen of Punta Gorda, Florida; his sister, Donna McCaffery and brother in law William McCaffery of Mattapoisett; his brother, Wilfred “Bill” DeMoranville and his wife Carol of Foster, Rhode Island; his sister-in-law, Claire Tetreault of Fairhaven; his mother in law, Georgianna “Georgie” Guisti of Lakeville; his aunt, Ann “Nan” Matson of Grafton; eight grandchildren; Jessica and Tayler Chase of Texas; Lindsey, Madison and Ethan DeMoranville and London DeMoranville of Lakeville; Erik and Briannah Hansen of Florida and many nieces and nephews.  He was expecting his first great grandchild in February.
He was the stepfather of the late Taber Chase, brother of the late Richard DeMoranville and son in law of the late Louis Guisti. He was predeceased by his brother in Christ, Paul Simpson.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 13th at 10 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday, January 12th from 4-8 PM.
