Augusta, GA---Mr. Henry Alton Pritchard entered into rest on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at University Hospital, at the age of 97.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm tomorrow Monday, January 9, 2012 at Westover Memorial Park, with Dr. Kenneth Word officiating.
Mr. Pritchard was born October 23, 1914, in Kite, GA, to the late Freemen and Anna Dixon Pritchard and was a U. S. Army veteran, of World War II, where he served as a medic. He worked at the University Hospital Pharmacy, for many years, beginning at age 15. He then worked for the Augusta Utilities Department until his retirement and later retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was a member of The Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Pritchard was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Van Pelt Pritchard, his brothers, Harrison Pritchard, Willard “Jack” Pritchard and nephew, Chris Pritchard.
Survivors include his brother, Gene Pritchard and his wife, Marie of Lakeland, FL and niece, Tracy Pritchard, sister in law, Theresia Pritchard of Augusta, GA and nephew, Nathan J. Pritchard, sister in law, Bessie Pritchard of North Augusta, SC and nieces, Jeanne Loar, Elaine Blizard, Harriette Mathews and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
The family will receive friends this evening Sunday, January 8, 2012 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
