Obituary

George Albert Campbell , a 26 year resident of Bridgewater, formerly of Stoughton, Somerville and a United States Army Veteran of World War II passed away at home on Wednesday January 4, 2012. He was 84 years old and the beloved husband of Audrey E. ( Morrill ) Campbell. He was the loving father of Dyanne C. Gardiner and her husband Gerald of Quincy and Alan R. Campbell of Bridgewater. Other survivors include his three grandchildren, Timothy Gardiner, Shane Campbell and Holly Campbell.

Born May 23, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts, George was the only child of the late Roland and Pearl ( Howatt ) Campbell. He attended Stoughton Public Schools and Stoughton High School.

Mr. Campbell was drafted in his senior year of high school by the United States Army. He proudly served his country with the Rank of Rifleman / PFC during World War II and was the proud recipient of the Army Occupational Medal from his military service overseas in Japan.

Upon his return from active military duty, Mr. Campbell settled in Stoughton and was the proud owner and operator of the Campbell Radiator Shop in Brookline. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Stoughton. He was also a member of the former I.O.O.F. Lodge of Oddfellows in Stoughton. He enjoyed fishing and had a very special interest in riding his BMW, Honda and Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday January 6, 2012 from 4 – 8 P.M. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. His funeral service will be held on Saturday January 7, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. also from the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. The Pastor Rev. Rebecca L . Cho, officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, North Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of one’s choice in George’s memory, would be appreciated.
