Obituary

Allan S. Moulton 64, of Hampstead, New Hampshire, and a former resident of Franklin, died peacefully Tuesday January 3, 2012 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Diane S. (Grogan) Moulton.
Born July 30, 1947, in Dorchester, a son of the late Wendell K. and Mary (Deitsch) Moulton, he was a resident of Hampstead for many years and previously lived in Franklin & Bellingham.
He was raised and educated in Brighton, and was a graduate of the former St. Columbkille’s high school. He furthered his education at Curry College, where he received a Master’s Degree in Education. For over 35 years he was a teacher, first at the Martin Luther King, Jr. middle school in Dorchester, and Brighton High School where he taught history & social studies.
He was passionate about all sports, especially football and golf, Allan followed the Red Sox & enjoyed camping. He was a little league coach & basketball coach for the town of Franklin.
Allan treasured time spent with his family and grandchildren. He also loved his retirement years at his home in Estero, Florida.
He was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association & Retired Boston Teachers Union Local 66.
In addition to his wife of 24 years he is survived by a son, Allan C. Moulton and his girlfriend Amy Giancola of Bellingham, a daughter Alana N. Sanders and her husband Marc of Franklin, 2 brothers; Robert & Daniel Griffin of Braintree, 5 sisters; Jean Griffin of Australia, Mary Lou Gordon of Framingham, Patricia Ford of Hingham, Judy Maloney of Boston, and Domenica Pfingsten of Fall River.
He was the stepson of the late Robert Griffin.
Also surviving are his granddaughters Hailey, Ariana, Makayla, and Kendal Sanders.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Saturday January 7th, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin, www.oterifuneralhome.com., with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Sq. Franklin at 10AM.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours are Friday from 4-8PM.
