Clair E. (Gross)Marshall. 99, of Norton, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday January 4, 2012. She was the wife of the late Antonio M. Marshall.
Born in Attleboro, MA on November 24, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Lottie (Daigneau) Gross.
Clair spent her early childhood living in Attleboro and later moved to Norton, where she had made her home for the past 92 years. She was educated in Attleboro and Norton schools.
A retired box maker, Mrs. Marshall had been employed for 47 years at the former Sweet Paper Box in Norton prior to retiring in 1976.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, Clair was a member of the Friends of the Norton Senior Center and was a former member of the Woodland Meadows Tenants Association.
Clair loved spending time in the presence of her adoring family and with friends. Her hobbies included playing card games, bingo, knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by her loving and devoted children Richard A. Marshall of Dorchester, New Hampshire, Norman J. Marshall of Reading, Vermont, Warren A. Marshall of Mashpee, Joyce A. Yoder of Orange City, Florida, Brenda C. Marshall of Hanson and Gordon D. Marshall of North Attleboro. The dear sister of Rita Gross of Taunton and the late Cora Koski, Earl Gross and Clifford Gross, she is also survived by her cherished 13 grandchildren and many great grand children and great-great grandchildren. She was the grandmother of the late Eric Yoder and great grandmother of the late Kenneth Marshall, Jr. and Zackary Marshall.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday January`7th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday January 6th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
