Alice Faye Barber Gillespie Purinton, 67, of Tifton died Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Omega Church of God. Rev. Larry Daughtry will officiate with a private burial to be held at a later date.
Mrs. Purinton was born on January 30, 1944 in Tallahassee, Florida and was the daughter of Weight Barber and Ellis Wade Barber, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jim Purinton; one son, Byron Gillespie; four brothers, Glenvale Adams, Eugene Sanders, Wallace W. Barber and James H. Barber; and two sisters, Shirley Ann Davis and Thelma Barber. She was a hair stylist and a member of Omega Church of God. She loved her dogs, loved Farmville of Facebook and had lived in Tifton for the past seven years.
Mrs. Purinton is survived by one son, Robert Gillespie of Florida; and one brother, Wiley Barber of Tifton.
