NATICK: Catherine (Gibson) Matzilevich, 88, died peacefully surrounded by her family following a period of declining health on Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence in Wayland.
She was born on October 26, 1923 in Boston.
Catherine was the devoted mother of Benjamin Matzilevich and his wife Angela of Dover, Dr. John Matzilevich and his wife Karen of Bangor, ME, Catherine Stroud and her husband Harold of Dallas, TX, Dr. David Matzilevich and his wife Louise of Framingham and Marion Matzilevich and her husband Mariano Ubeda, MD, PhD of Natick. She was the mother of the late Thomas Matzilevich and his wife Kathleen. She is also survived by her beloved 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. She was the wife of the late Dr. Benjamin Matzilevich who died in January of 2000.
Catherine spent her formative years in Canton and was a graduate of Canton High School. She has been a resident of Natick for the past 64 years. She was devoted to her family which was the center of her life and worked side by side with her husband, the late Dr. Benjamin Matzilevich as his office manager at his practice in Natick.
She was very active in the Natick community and was a Trustee at Leonard Morse Hospital and on the Town of Natick Board of Finance. She was also a Trustee at the Fernald School and member of the Massachusetts Medical Association Womens Group and a longtime member of the St. Zepherins Church Womens Club.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Route 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Family and friends are invited to her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Parish of the Good Shepherd at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main St (Route 27), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Interment will be private for her family at a later date.
