Obituary

WEBSTER – Irene R. (Bassett) Gould, 84, of Webster, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at home after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 63 years, Robert W. Gould, Sr.; 6 children, Robert W. Gould, Jr. and his wife Gloria Gould, Donna M. and her husband Curtis Cleaves all of Webster, James R. Gould and his partner Beverly Drowne of Thompson, CT, Sheila M. and her husband Robert LaPlante of Charlton, Leona M. and her husband Edward M. DiTullio of Webster and William P. Gould and his partner AnneMarie Orn of Thompson, CT; a sister, Constance Gould of Worcester; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was born in Spencer a daughter of Leo J. and Unabelle (Coty) Bassett. She was a graduate of Assumption Academy in Nicolete, P.Q. Canada.

Mrs. Gould worked for many years as a bookkeeper at the former Bayer Motors in Dudley retiring in 1990.

She was a member of Saint Louis church and a member of the Saint Louis League of Catholic Women. She had a great love for children and enjoyed helping out at her daughters’ daycare center. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Gould’s family would like to express their appreciation for the care that was shown to her by the VNA Hospice of Worcester.

The funeral will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., with a Mass at 2:00 PM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in Mary Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. A calling period will be from 12:30 to 1:30 PM Saturday in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to either, VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01610 or to the Saint Louis School Endowment Fund, 15 Lake St., Webster, MA 01570.
