Mary B. Mocogni, of Medford, died peacefully at the Courtyard Nursing Center on New Years Day. She was 88.
Mary was born and raised in Boston’s Kerry Village, now known as Bay Village, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Renata (Badiali) Mocogni. She worked as an administrative assistant and legal secretary throughout her life. She was the legal secretary to Lt. Governor Horace Cahill and later served as administrative assistant to the Vice-President of the Automobile League of America. A Medford resident for 50 years, Mary was a devout woman, devoted to her parish of St. Joseph in Medford. There, she served as a eucharistic minister and as coordinator of the lectors. She was a member of the Chatterbox Club and of the Maria Montessori Lodge of the Order of Sons of Italy. Mary was devoted to her family, enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and savored good times with her many friends.
Mary leaves her cousins, Maria and Michael DePascale of Medford and their sons: Stephen and his wife Enrica and their children Marco and Arianna, Robert and his girlfriend Maureen Lake. She leaves cousins, Luigi, Erminio, John and Maria Badiali in Ashington, England, a cousin, Aldo Morag Cecchini as well as many cousins in Italy, Scotland and the United States.
Family and friends may visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Thursday, January 5th from 4 thru 8pm and again on Friday morning at 9 followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church at 10. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
