METHUEN – Rita M. Caron, 89 passed away on Saturday December 31, 2011 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Formerly from Salem, NH, she was the daughter of Alfred and Flora Desruisseaux. Born and educated in Lawrence, she attended St. Joseph’s School and was and active member at St. Anne’s Church for many years and later at St. Monica’s in Methuen.
She was employed at Raytheon and the Bolta Corporation. For many years she owned and operated with her husband Joe, Caron’s Package Store and Grandma Rita’s General Store in Lawrence. Rita loved music, crafting, oil painting, sewing and making and painting ceramic dolls. She also had a great doll collection. She also loved to travel with her husband and enjoyed the beach every summer with her family.
A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was the widow of Joseph C. Caron and is survived by her beloved children Angeline (Lynn) Lacroix of Methuen, MA, Janet Newcombe and her husband Barry of Windham, NH, Joseph Caron and his wife Francis of Florida and Kathleen Jenkins and her husband Carl of Concord, NH.
One sister Theresa Laviolette of Salem, NH
16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Rita was predeceased by her son William G. Caron, and her sister Claire Faucher and her husband Wilfred and grandchildren James Caron and John C. Lacroix.
ARRANGEMENTS: Memorial contributions can be made to St. Basils Salvatorian Center 30 East Street Methuen, MA 01844. Family and friends may call on Thursday morning 8:30a.m. – 10:15a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30a.m. in St. Monica’s Church in Methuen, MA. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
