Obituary

John J. “Bussy” Spaulding, retired Brockton Police, age 81, of Brockton died unexpectedly December 30, 2011, at his home. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Lillian (McGee) Spaulding. Bussy was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1948 and also graduated from an art school in Boston. He was a Navy Veteran who had served during the Korean Conflict as a Coxswain on an LST. For many years he was a self employed mason in Brockton and for over 30 years was on the Brockton Police force. He was an accomplished artist and wood carver and an active member of the Conte, Bertocci and Enterprise Clubs.
He is survived by his twin brother Thomas E. Spaulding and his wife Elizabeth of Brockton and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Jay Patrick Spaulding; former husband of the late Patricia (O’Connor) Spaulding and brother of the late Collette O’Neil.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday 5-8pm. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30am for a funeral mass in Christ the King Parish at 10:30am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. Donations in his name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
