WEBSTER - Edward C. “Stoney” Stone, 70, of Webster, died Friday, December 30, 2011 in UMass/Memorial Healthcare, Worcester, after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Katherine A. (Raszka) Stone; 2 children, Sharon A. Sterczala and her husband Kevin of Oxford and Jeffrey J. Stone of Thompson, CT; 3 granddaughters, Kelsey, Megan and Emily Sterczala; a sister, Joan Vear of Webster; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Stone.
He was born in Webster, the son of Clarence and Clara (Streich) Stone, and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Bartlett Trade High School. In his youth, he was an altar boy at Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church.
Mr. Stone was employed at Cranston Print Works Company for 42 years, retiring in 2001.
He was a member and past president of the Kosziuszko Club and a twenty year member of the former Webster Lodge of Elks #1466. He belonged to several pitch leagues. He served as a Commissioner for the Lassie League in the late 1970's. Currently, he volunteered to help at the Webster Senior Center.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at 11:00 AM in Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street. Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, January 2, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to South County Dialysis Center, 336 Thompson Road, Webster, MA 01570.
