TAUNTON - Theresa M. (Demers) Mendes, wife of Joseph Mendes of Taunton, died at Marian Manor on Dec. 30, 2011.
She was 82.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Armand A. and Georgiana I. (Stearns) Demers.
Mrs. Mendes was raised and educated in Taunton and was a lifelong resident of the area.
She was employed by the former Ansonia Mills many years ago.
A communicant of East Taunton’s Holy Family Church and member of the parish Women’s Guild, Mrs. Mendes enjoyed duckpin bowling and crossword puzzles.
Her favorite pastime was enjoying the company of her family.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, Joseph D. Mendes and his wife Marguerite of Taunton; three daughters, Ann M. Mendes and her fiancé Taunton Police Capt. Michael J. Silvia, of E. Taunton, Linda J. Mendes of Taunton, Pamela J. Johnson and her husband Christopher of East Taunton; three brothers, Armand H. Demers of Ludlow, VT, Henry A. and Robert Demers, both of Taunton; two sisters, Fabiola Cardoza of East Taunton, and Florence LaCombe of Taunton; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Alfred Stearns.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Tuesday, Jan. 3rd at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Holy Family Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 2nd from 5 to 8 p.m.
