Manchester– Madeleine E. Sweeney, 84, died December 30, 2011 at Mount Carmel Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was born in Claremont, NH on April 4, 1927 the daughter of Simeon and Emma (Marquis) Sweeney.
She was a Third Order of the Carmelites.
In her life as an LPN she served many people in need. She worked many years as an aid to Irene Farley at the Missionary Rose Bush of St. Theresa. She also worked for Maple Leaf Nursing Home and the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary.
She was predeceased by her sister Claire Durette in May of 2011.
Family members include her brother Hubert J. Sweeney and his wife Pauline, brother in law George Durette and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A calling hour will take place on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in Mount Carmel Nursing Home Chapel. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM in the Chapel following the calling hour. Burial will be on Tuesday in St. Augustin Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in the form of masses said at either Mt. Carmel Chapel or Precious Blood Monastery Chapel in Madeleine’s name.
