George R. Mauzy, Sr., 81, of Derry, NH died Thursday December 29, 2011 at the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH. Mr. Mauzy was born in Marine City, MI on September 12, 1930, a son of the late Henry S. and Thelma E. (Smith) Mauzy. He was a lifelong Derry resident and a 1948 graduate of Pinkerton Academy. While at Pinkerton Academy he played on All Star and Championship football and basketball teams and was voted by his classmates to be the best school athlete and most popular student. He had worked for NH Egg Producers in Derry and for Sanders Associates of Nashua. He retired in 1989 from Kolsman Corp. in Merrimack, NH. Mr. Mauzy was also a member of St. Mark’s Masonic Lodge #44 F & AM of Derry.
He is survived by three sons, Stephen M. Mauzy of Derry, Van S. Mauzy of Mountain Ranch, CA, and George R. Mauzy, Jr. of Allenstown, NH, four daughters, Michelle D. Estey of Holiday, FL, Deborah L. Holm of Allenstown, Cami E. Sumner of Epsom, NH and Deirdre M Dumont of Wilton, NH. He also leaves seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, his brother, Thomas R. Mauzy of Derry, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Deborah (Gorham) Mauzy, and by his son, Mark R. Mauzy, both in 2007.
