Martha Carolyn Hunter Miles, 75, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 31 at Arbor Baptist Church with Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and the Rev. David Fisher officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
Mrs. Miles was born July 26, 1936 in Fitzgerald to the late Russell and Virginia McCormick Hunter. She lived in Fitzgerald most of her life. Mrs. Miles was a homemaker, a former employee of H.R. Kaminsky & Sons and a retired piano teacher. She was a member of Arbor Baptist Church, a former member of Westside Baptist Church, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Old Prospect Baptist Church and Northside Baptist Church, working with the youth and the youth choirs and teaching Sunday school. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading and music.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Merlon Max Miles of Fitzgerald; son, Johnny Max Miles of Danielsville, GA and a brother, Matthew (Sylvia) Hunter of Macon, GA. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a brother, Russell Hunter, Jr.
