Bell Russell Merritt (Aunt Bell), age 98, of Broxton, GA passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011. She was a loyal member of Reedy Branch Baptist Church. She kept the church records for thirty years and was care taker of the nursery for twenty years. She was born in Dover, TN. on February 12, 1913. Her family moved to Michigan and ran a boarding house. She met and married Floyd Merritt of Broxton, GA. In 1944 they moved to Broxton, GA. She was a Christian, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.
Mrs. Merritt is survived by three sons, Frank (Marilyn) Merritt of Easley, SC, Gerald (Micky) Merritt of Cohutta, GA; and Larry (Ann) Merritt of Kennesaw, GA.; Fifteen Grandchildren, Twenty-eight great grandchildren, and Eight great great grandchildren. She was precede, in death by her husband Floyd Merritt and daughter Nancy Merritt Wall Jones.
Funeral Service were held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11:00.m. at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Den Weniger officiating. Interment will follow at church cemetery. Music was furnished for the service by the Congregation “Because He Lives” and “How Great Thou Art” and Liberty Men Quarter “Beulah Land”. Evelyn Weniger as organist.
