
Natalie “Tommie” (McLaughlin) Kirby, 90, died peacefully on December 28, 2011 after a prolonged illness.
She was born January 29, 1921 in Princeton Maine where she grew up in the large family of Mabel (White) and Charles McLaughlin. After graduating high school, she moved to Boston where she was a licensed beautician and met and married her husband of 62 years, Robert Kirby. They had two children and lived for 15 years in Norwood Ohio, moved to Swampscott, Massachusetts in 1968 and then to their daughter’s home in Natick in 1997.
Tommie worked for many years in Filenes in Boston. She loved giving neighborhood parties, shopping and fashion, and volunteering with the senior centers in her communities. She also enjoyed spending winters for twenty years with Bob in Brandenton, Florida.
Tommie is survived by her very loving husband, Robert of Natick; her daughter and spouse Joyce Kirby and Michael Greene of Wellesley; her daughter in law Adele Kirby, her grandsons Joshua Kirby of Peabody and Chaim Kirby of Chicago and her granddaughter Kirby Kochanowski of Wellesley. She also leaves a sister, Dorothy Buttaro of New Britain, CT and a brother Gibby McLaughlin of Princeton, Maine and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Kirby and several brothers and sisters.
