Matthew W. Spinney, 24, of Fairhaven died December 27, 2011 unexpectedly at home.
Born in Malden, MA the son of Terri R. (Klein) Spinney of Fairhaven and William F. Spinney, Jr. and his partner Sam D. Neis of New Bedford, he lived in Fairhaven all of his life.
Matthew was employed as a chef at Freestone's Restaurant.
He was an avid RedSox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins fan.
Survivors include his parents; his girlfriend, Courtney L. Pike and their son Mason C. Spinney, both of Fairhaven; a brother, Patrick M. Spinney of Fairhaven; a sister, Kelli Ann Spinney of Fairhaven; his paternal grandparents, William F. and Alice K. (Tracy) Spinney of Wakefield; his maternal grandfather, Leonard Klein of Malden; his beloved great-aunt, Geraldine Ridings and her husband John McNamara of Charlestown, MA; his adored niece, Stella L. Spinney; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was the grandson of the late Dorothy L. (Ridings) Spinney and Louise G. (Shapiro) Klein.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett Saturday, December 31st at 7:45 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, December 30th from 4-7 PM.
