Obituary

Mary Elizabeth "Lila" (Bruce) Hogan-Trott, 78, of Fairhaven, died March 18, 2004, unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of Leslie D. Trott and the late Ambrose J. Hogan.

Born in Long Harbour, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, Canada, the daughter of the late Edward F. and Mary A. (Griffiths) Bruce, she had lived in New Bedford for many years before moving to Fairhaven 13 years ago.

She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.

Mrs. Hogan-Trott was a volunteer lunchmother at Holy Family-Holy Name School for many years, and was very devoted to the school and students.

Survivors include her husband; 2 sons, Thomas E. Hogan, and his wife Kathleen, and Ambrose J. Hogan, Jr., and his wife Kristen, all of New Bedford; 7 daughters, Celeine M. Saraiva, and her husband Roger, Marsha Thomas, and her husband Robert, Catherine M. Hogan, Ellen Hogan, and Maureen Bowers, and her husband Robert, all of New Bedford, Mary E. Hogan, and her companion Edward E. Longo, of Fairhaven, and Lynne M. Garcia, and her husband James, of Dartmouth; 2 stepsons, Dr. Leslie A. Trott, and his wife Elaine, of Cedar Grove, New Jersey, and Dr. Thomas Trott of Portland, Maine; a sister, Mary Catherine Saunders of New Bedford; 3 brothers, Edward F. Bruce, Jr., Dennis P. Bruce and Herman R. Bruce, all of Dartmouth; 19 grandchildren, Roger, Stephen, Shawn, Mary Ellen, Timothy, Patrick, Jennifer, Jon, Joey, Caitlin, Kelly, A.J., Shaun, Bobby, Jenna, Kyle, Kayla, Stephanie, and Kieran; 2 great-grandchildren Colin and Riley; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Timothy P. Hogan, and sister of the late Marie Celiene Toye and Perpetua M. Murray.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordMonday March 22, 2004 at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Sunday March 21, 2004 from 5-8 PM.Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Holy Family-Holy Name School, 91 Summer St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
