TAUNTON - David P. Soares, husband of the late Maria L. (Arruda) Soares, died at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston on Dec. 24, 2011.
He was 67.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Jaime and Maria da Conceicao (Pereira) Soares.
He served in the Portuguese Army before moving to the U.S. many years ago.
A retired machine operator, Mr. Soares was employed by the former Crown Wire Co. for fourteen years until 1993, when the factory closed.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church, and member of the Taunton Eagles.
Survivors include a son, John Soares of Taunton; a daughter, Linda Soares of Taunton; four brothers, George and Jamie Soares, both of Taunton, Frank and Gilbert Soares, both of Canada; four sisters, Maria Manuela Santos and Eduarda Leite, both of Taunton, Isaura Medeiros and Ana Ferreira, both of Canada; a granddaughter, Michaela Condinho of Taunton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Francis F. Soares.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday Dec. 30th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday Dec. 29th from 5 to 8 p.m.
