Mrs. Antonia Contardo, age 83 of Somerville, died Thursday in the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She is the beloved wife of the late Domenico Contardo. Mrs. Contardo was born in Italy, daughter of the late Pasquale and Celeste Contardo. She was educated there and at the age of 20 moved to Argentina where she remained for 25 years. In 1973 she and her family came to the United States and settled in Somerville. She was known as an excellent cook. She was an avid walker, walking nearly everywhere and was described as a woman always on the run. In the past she enjoyed occasional trips to Foxwoods. Nothing gave her more pleasure than family gatherings with the children, grand and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by pets of her children, Missy and Loki. She is survived by a son Michael Contardo and his wife Nancy of Medford, a daughter Carmen Aniello and her husband Oreste of Stoneham, 6 grandchildren, Richard and Alex Aniello, Christopher and Andrew Contardo, Mark and Jeannette Aubin and is the great grandmother of Wyatt Roy and Kevin Aubin. Sister of Nicolina and Angelo Contardo of Italy and the late Leonardo and Domenico Contardo.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home 306 Main Street Medford on Tuesday at 9:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford Street, Somerville, at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 pm. Services will conclude with entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
