Marie Agnes Giers, 95

Marie A. (Fanning) Giers, 95, of Norton, formerly of Quincy, Dorchester, and South Boston, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Life Care Center in West Bridgewater. She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard A. Giers who died on March 4, 1948.
Born in Boston, MA on January 8, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Ellen (Dwyer) Fanning.
Marie grew up and was educated in South Boston. She was a graduate of St. Augustine High School in South Boston.
Mrs. Giers was a dedicated homemaker and proudly raised her daughters after the death of her husband Bernard. She had also worked as a distribution clerk for the U.S. Postal Service at the South Boston Annex for 22 years prior to retiring.
A resident of Norton for the past 12 years, Marie was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield. She enjoyed knitting, and while living on the south shore had attended many concerts at the South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset.
Family was the focal point of Marie’s life. She especially loved spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who meant the world to her. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her devoted daughters; Donna M. Easingwood and her husband Fred of Norton and Elaine B. Giers, also of Norton. The dear sister of the late Helen Kisiel, Anna Baranow, Dorothy Christofferson and Lillian, Mildred, Robert and John Fanning, she is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Frederick Easingwood, Jr., Kimberly Easingwood, Kerrie Pike, Kevin Easingwood and Christopher Easingwood, as well her adoring great grandchildren Brett, Brandon, Zoie and Brady Pike, and Gavin and Colby Easingwood.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday December 27th at 9:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Randoplh.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday December 26th from 4-7 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
