Obituary

Bernard W. Chalecki, 89 of Riverside Drive, Pawcatuck, died Monday, December 19 at home.

He was born on September 28, 1922 in Plantsville, CT, the son of Lucyian and Anna Chalecki. He married Alice Mitchell on July 11, 1945 in Philadelphia PA.

Mr. Chalecki graduated from Lewis High School, prepped at Cheshire Academy before entering Yale University. After one year he was drafted into the U.S. Army and chosen for the Army Specialized Training Program at the University of Penna. After the invasion of Normandy he was sent to Belgium in General Patton's Third Army and eventually was awarded the Bronze Star. On return he became a student of the 48 Class at Yale and graduated that year.

Mr. Chalecki worked for the State of Conn. in the Labor Dept & as Director of the Boating Commission - since merged with the E.P.A., 12 years at E.B. (Electric Boat) in the Materials Development Department and in retirement, many years in the Education Dept. at Mystic Seaport.
He also served as a member of the Pawcatuck River Harbor Management Commission.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, one son, Bernard, Jr. of Maryland, a sister, Dorothy of Meriden and nephews, Michael and Joseph.

Per his wishes, there will be no visitation or service.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations in his memory be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 300 Research Parkway, Suite 310, Meriden CT 06450.
