Obituary

Michael C. Gatchell, 38, of Londonderry, NH died Monday, December 19, 2011 at his home following a courageous battle with alcoholism. He was born on May 2, 1973 in Methuen, MA, a son of William G. Gatchell of Hooksett, NH and Janice L. (Proulx) Gatchell of Londonderry. Michael was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Derry, NH, Class of 1993. He lived for 10 years in South Carolina where he was a professional window cleaner. Michael enjoyed his farm and his animals in South Carolina, riding his horses and spending time with his dog “Mugzy”. He was a detailer at Harley Davidson in Manchester and also worked for Precision Cleaning in Salem, NH. He enjoyed spending time with his older brother Sean working on motorcycles. Most recently he worked with his younger brother Ryan at Café Teresa in Londonderry as a chef and his aunt Jean at Portsmouth, NH public radio station 106.6. He also enjoyed his time with his mother and brother Ryan during frequent visits to South Carolina. As a young boy through his adult years, Michael enjoyed a close relationship with his Grammy and Pepere Proulx. Michael was a kind and gentle soul with a big heart. He was loved by many friends and family. Always willing to pitch in with help and had a generous nature. He also had a great sense of humor and a laugh that was very unmistakable.
In addition to his parents, he is also survived by one son Riley Gilberti-Gatchell of Northfield, NH, two brothers, Sean W. Gatchell of Manchester, NH and Ryan J. Gatchell of Londonderry; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including one special niece, Felicia Gatchell, maternal aunts, Joan Campbell of Pelham, NH, Sharon Proulx of California, Gail Curran of Sandown, NH, and Jean Proulx of Kittery, ME; paternal uncle, Brian Gatchell of Litchfield, NH, paternal aunts, Sandra Cusson of Florida and Robin Flood of Boscawen, NH, best friend Stephen Capuano of Windham, NH.
Calling hours were held on Friday, December 23, 2011 from 2 – 5pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A funeral service was held at 5:00pm following the calling hours. Committal services held on Tuesday December 27, 2011 at 1:00PM in Pine Grove Cemetery, Main St., Salem, NH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Teen Challenge, 147 Laurel St., Manchester, NH 03103.
