TEWKSBURY -- Eugene R. Wentworth, 73, a Tewksbury resident, who was a retired baker and decorated veteran of the Korean War, died yesterday, Feb. 12. He was the husband of Agnes J. (Dacey) Wentworth, to whom he was married for 43 years.
He was born the son of the late Frederick and Eva (Ouellettte) Wentworth joined the military at the Boston Army Base on Feb. 12, 1951, and served as a baker with the Army's 110th Bakery Co. until his honorable discharge from Fort Devens on Feb. 4, 1953. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars and the United Nations Service Medal.
After military service, he was baker at the First National Stores. He retired after 23 years of service.
Mr. Wentworth was a member of the Tewksbury Elks, as well as the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars organizations.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jean M. Massicotte, Pamela A. and Shane F. Cogliano, all of Tewksbury, and Patricia A. and Thomas F. Timmins of Methuen. He also leaves a former son-in-law, Henry R. Massicotte of Tewksbury; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pauline Vail of Hanson and June and Kevin McGowan of Abington; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest and Barbara Wentworth of Wolfeboro, N.H., and Kenneth and Carole Wentworth of Fort Myers, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Meagan K. Timmins of Methuen; as well as several nieces and nephews.
His funeral was held Friday, Feb. 15, in St. William's Church followed by interment in Tewksbury Cemetery.
