Muriel C. Laplume 86, of 230 Dulude Ave. died Monday at St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late Roland H. Laplume. A lifelong city resident, she was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Maurice and Rena (Bouchard) Blain. Muriel was a stitcher at the former Uni-Royal Co. for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Sr. Citizens Club and the Woonsocket Elks Club Ladies Auxiliary, the Emblem Club. She was a very loving person who was "Mom" or "Memere" to many. She and Roland would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on December 22.
She is survived by a son Roger R. Laplume of Bellingham, a daughter Diane T. Fregeau and her husband Robert of Cumberland, three grandchildren; Deana Robidoux, Craig Fregeau, and Michael Laplume, a sister Gertrude Tessier of Woonsocket, and six great- grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Normand Blain and Lillian Rivet.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 AM, from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket , with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Rd. Cumberland. Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery in Woonsocket. Visiting hours are Thursday 5-8 PM.
