PEABODY: Laurie Jean (Greenlay) Hardin, 52, died Monday afternoon, December 19, 2011 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, following an extended illness.
Born in Beverly on November 11, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Mary Lynch and Benjamin J. H. Greenlay, Sr. She had resided in Texas, Pennsylvania and several locations in Massachusetts.
For most of her life, Laurie was employed in the restaurant business. She had waitressed at various establishments including, The Shawmut, Legal Seafoods and Capones, where she was manager up until the time of her illness five years ago. She had also managed the former Farmer John’s in Gloucester.
A loving and devoted companion, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be greatly missed.
Laurie is survived by her soul mate, Frederick Dion; three children, Danielle Carr, Russell Hardin and his companion, Jacqui Myers, and Rachel, wife of Sandra Amancio; five grandchildren, James, Bryon, Makaylee, Brayden and Ryan; five sisters, Mary Ellen, wife of Charles Sutton, Jeanne Botelho, Kathleen H. Ward, Marcia Ernst and Joan Quittner; two brothers, Donald and his wife, Christine Greenlay and Benjamin J. H. Greenlay, Jr., and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, Daniel Gendron.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 5 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Committal services will be held privately.
