GLOUCESTER: Frances D. (Ciulla) Sutera, 92, died Saturday, December 17, 2011 in the Essex Park Rehabilation & Nursing Center, Beverly following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Augustine Sutera, who died in 1995.
Born in Boston on December 28, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Catherine (Verde) Ciulla. She moved to Gloucester at the age of thirteen and attended Gloucester public schools.
Frances was employed by the former O’Donnell-Usen Seafood Kitchen for eighteen years.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Cynthia (Shamas) Sutera; three grandchildren, Austin Sutera, Anne Sutera and John C. Sutera, Jr. and his companion, Kristin Porper; five great-grandchildren, Mark Sutera, Connor Cranston, Joseph Sutera, Katie Sutera and Lilly Sutera; a brother Leonard “Leo” Ciulla and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her son, Anthony J. Sutera; two brothers, Mercurio and Frank Ciulla and five sisters, Rose Ciulla, Mary Gilardi, Anna Scola, Lillian Ciulla and Phyllis Scola.
Her funeral service was privately held on Tuesday morning in the Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
