Obituary

Julia A. (Andrade) Cabral, 82, of New Bedford died December 17, 2011 at Brandon Woods of New Bedford.
She was the wife of the late Manuel J. Cabral, Jr.
Born in Fairhaven, the daughter of the late John G. and Maria O. (Oliveira) Andrade, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Cabral was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She was formerly employed as a head matron at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth for over 20 years until retirement.
Mrs. Cabral was a member and past president of the Cape Verdean American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary and a founding member of the Cape Verdean Retirees. She enjoyed her time as a Foster Grandparent at the United Front Daycare.
Survivors include 3 sons, Robert Andrade of Georgia, Edward "Jody" Monteiro of New Bedford, and William Monteiro of Sparks, NV; a daughter, Constance Andrade of New Bedford; 2 step-sons, Peter Cabral and Manuel Cabral, III, both of New Bedford; 2 step-daughters, Antoinette Cabral and Jennie Antunes, both of New Bedford; a brother, Fernando Garcia of Lakeville; a sister, Joaquina DosSantos of New Bedford; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was the step-mother of the late Steven Cabral and the sister of the late Mildred Barboza.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Tuesday, December 20th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, December 19th from 3-7 PM.
