Delia Mary (Pocius) McConnon, 88, of Natick, passed away on December 15, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. McConnon who passed away in 2010 and with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.
Born in Lawrence, daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Tamalevicius) Pocius, Mrs. McConnon was raised in South Boston. She was educated in the Boston Public Schools, graduating from South Boston High School in 1941. After marrying in 1944, Mrs. McConnon settled in Natick where she raised her children. She returned to Keefe Tech in the 1970’s and earned her L.P.N. degree. For many years she cared for the Sisters of Charity of Halifax at Mt. St. Vincent in Wellesley. Mrs. McConnon enjoyed painting, cooking, and sewing. She also enjoyed spending time with her family on Nantucket where she learned the art of making Nantucket baskets.
Mrs. McConnon is survived by 7 devoted children, Joan Manning and her husband Gregory of Clayton, CA, Marie Dowling and her husband William of Marshfield, Diane Marinelli and her husband Peter of Ashland, Joseph McConnon of Natick, Thomas McConnon and his wife Lorraine of North Billerica, Marianne DeVries and her husband Joseph of Grafton and Susan Carr and her husband Jack of Natick. She was the cherished Grandma of Rachele, Maura, Christine, Sarah, James, Michael, Joseph, Andrew, Julia, and Jillian and Great-Grandma to 12. She was the dear sister of the late Joseph, Alphonse, and Aldona Pocius. Mrs. McConnon is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend her funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) NATICK on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 9:00 AM to be followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church, Natick at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Natick. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 4-7 PM.
