New Bedford – Matilde Miranda, age 84 years, died Thursday, December 15, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital Peacefully . She was the wife of the late Manuel Miranda Jr. Loving Mother of Samuel Miranda and his wife Madalena, and Manuel Miranda and his wife Maria both of Dartmouth, Mary Jo Camara and her husband Jorge of New Bedford. She was also the mother of the late Carlos Miranda. Matilde was the sister of the late Jacintho Correia and Bertha Franco. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. .
Mrs. Miranda was the daughter of the late Maria Jose (Botelho) and Francisco Correia. She was born in St. Michael, Azores and lived in this area since 1973. She worked as a machine operator until her retirement.
Mrs. Miranda’s funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Saturday at 9:00 A.M. services by Pastor John Helm and Pastor Morden. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and Friends are invited
