Manchester- Francis A. Plante, 83, died December 14, 2011, at the Catholic Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born in Manchester on May 1, 1928, the son of Francis P. and Yvonne (Morin) Plante and had been a lifelong resident of this city.
He graduated from Manchester NH Central High School and graduated from Hesser Business School, Manchester, NH.
Prior to his retirement, he had been a buyer/auditor for Associated Grocers of NE for more than 40 years. He retired as a Major in the NH Army National Guard with more than 20 years of service.
He was member of NH Grocers Association, the NH National Guard Association, a parishioner of St. Anthony Church, and former member of the Parish Council at St. Anthony Church.
He was predeceased by his wife Charlotte (Constant) Plante on August 23, 2005, and a son David P. Plante in 1970.
Family members include two sons: Richard F. Plante and his wife Elaine of Manchester, Ronald C. Plante and his wife Trisha of Hampton; 4 grandchildren: David Plante and his wife Lindsay of Marble Falls, TX., Scott Plante of Manchester, Katy Plante of New York, NY., Marty Plante of Hampton; and one great granddaughter: Ella Plante of Marble Falls, TX.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 4 to 7 PM at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Belmont St. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
