Frank Barton, 89, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at Salem Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Lynn as Francis Picariello, he was the son of the late Philip and Mary (Sullo) Picariello. He was raised and educated in Middleton and was a graduate of Holten High School, Class of 1940. In his youth, he enjoyed boxing and as a young man took the name Frank Barton.
Frank was most proud of his military service, a proud WWII Navy veteran, he served 18 months in Atlantic, Pacific, and Caribbean waters until a leg injury cut his service short and rendered him disabled.
A longtime Danvers resident, Frank made his home at Perry Terrace for the last twenty-five years where he leaves many dear friends. A cigar aficionado, he could often be spotted in Danvers Square at Cigars R Us.
A time of sharing and remembrance will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 3PM in the Danvers Housing Authority Community Room, 14 Stone St., Danvers. All are invited.
