TEWKSBURY - Madeline F. (Peterson) Sousa, 82, the former owner of Tewksbury’s AirportDiner, died Sunday morning, Feb. 17, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell.
She was born in Lowell, March 10, 1919, a daughter of the later Edward and Josephine(Muldoon) Peterson. She was raised in Lowell, where she lived the greater part of her life. Shehad resided in Tewksbury for the past 32 years, most recently at Flucker Heights, on DelaneyDrive. As a resident of Tewksbury, she was a communicant of St. William’s Church.
She owned and operated the Airport Diner at Tew-Mac Airport for more than 25 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Maureen Kane of Billerica, Linda Barros of Lowell, one sonand daughter-in-law, James E. and Colleen (Wilson) Sousa of Lowell, three grandchildren, SherylSousa of Waltham, Leonard Barros of Lewiston, Maine, Allison Kane of Billerica, one greatgrandson, Jesse Barros, and many nieces and nephews.She was also sister of the late Agnes Stouffer, James Peterson, and Bernice Darcy.
Her FuneralMass will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte 38) Tewksbury. Visiting hours Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery,Lowell.
