Joan M. (Cabral) Marrano, of North Reading, formerly of Medford, died peacefully Monday in the Meadow View Nursing Home of North Reading. She was 78. Born in Cambridge, and raised in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late George and the late Mary (Murphy) Cabral. A Medford resident for most of her life, Joan lived the past 11 years in North Reading. As a young woman, Joan worked at the former Shawmut Bank. Once married, she was devoted to raising and caring for her sons. After her youngest left for college, she worked at the Marshalls Distribution Center in the logistics department, until she retired.
The beloved wife of John R. Marrano, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage, she was a devoted mother to Robert Marrano and his wife Elise of Newburyport, John Marrano, Jr and his wife Susan of Framingham, James Marrano and his wife Susan of Medway. She was a loving grandmother to Susan, Lauren, Chris, Jimmy, Mark, Danny and Erica and a loving great-grandmother to Travis and Grant.
Joan’s funeral procession will gather at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Visiting hours at the funeral home Thursday 4 - 8.
