RICHARD B. MCCUSKER, SR., 74, a Hingham resident for many years, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 10th, 2011 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was born in Boston and spent his early life in Mattapan. He attended St. Angela's Elementary School and graduated from Boston College High School. He was associated with the New England Telephone Co., many years with Purity Supreme Markets and most recently as an agent with the Prudential Insurance Co. Richard was a longtime communicant of St. Paul's Church in Hingham and served as a CCD instructor. He was interested and active in Hingham community affairs and his love and participation in sports led him to become a well known local football and hockey coach. He was devoted to his wife, Carol (Wigmore) McCusker of Hingham and all of his extended family. Richard was a selfless person, always there to do for others.
He was the loving father of Richard B. McCusker, Jr. and his wife Susan of Hingham, Lynne McCusker of Rockland, Peter S. McCusker and his wife Elizabeth of Nantucket and Douglas D. McCusker of Boulder, CO. Brother of Judy Jerrier of Fairview, TX and Karen O'Neil of Milton. Also survived by 7 grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 19th at 10 AM at St. Paul's Church, 147 North St., Hingham Square. Visiting hours and flowers omitted by family request. Rather than flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Hingham Senior Center, 224 Central St., Hingham, MA 02043. The interment is private.
