Joseph T. Dexter, 57, of New Bedford passed away Monday December 12, 2011 at home after a long illness. He was the husband of Deborah L. (Carey) Dexter.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Ernest H. Dexter and Doris (LaPlante) Oliveira, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Dexter was employed as a truck driver and was a jack of all trades.
He enjoyed classic cars and antiques.
Survivors include his wife; five children, Thomas Dexter of Florida, and Adam Ferreira, Sarah Dexter, Antone Costa and Brandon Costa, all of New Bedford; his siblings, Doris Kasmire of Florida, Joanne LaMeire and Diane Jabotte, both of Michigan, Ruth Costa of Carver, Linda Nichols of Fairhaven, and Roger Dexter of Falmouth; two grandchildren, Makayla Dexter and Benjamin Daniels; and several nieces and nephews.
