Mr. Joseph F. Gonsalves Jr., age 90, a life-long resident of Woburn passed away peacefully on December 11th, at the Woburn Nursing Center following a short illness. Born in Woburn he was the son of the late Joseph F. Gonsalves Sr. and Angelina (Gomes-Pestana).
Mr. Gonsalves was raised in Woburn and attended Woburn Schools. He was a retired tannery worker and worked for many years with the Murray Leather Co. and also with the Riley Leather Co. both formerly of Woburn. In his leisure time he enjoyed bowling with family and friends and also enjoyed listening to music and playing his guitar. He was a life member of Woburn's Portuguese American Recreation Club in the South End where he established and maintained many wonderful friendships throughout his life.
He was the cherished brother of Mary Gonsalves, John Gonsalves and his wife Jeanne, Agnes Barbara Gonsalves, Irene Gonsalves all of Woburn, Julie Perez of New York City, the late Ernest Gonsalves and his surviving wife Jean Gonsalves of Woburn. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Wednesday, December 14th, at 12:00 pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
