Thelma M. Hernandez, 62, a resident of Lawrence, MA, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Santiago in the Dominican Republic, Thelma was educated in the Dominican Republic and came to New York in 1968. She then came to Lawrence in 1992. Thelma was a member of the Legion of Mary as well as a C.C.D. Teacher at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lawrence. She had also been a C.C.D. teacher at the former Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, also in Lawrence.
Members of Thelma's family include her husband of 44 years: Jose A. Hernandez, her six children: Ricardo, Adrian, Denise, Jorge, Carolina, and Omar Hernandez, as well as 10 grandchildren, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery also in Lawrence.
