TAUNTON - William R. Drummond, a longtime Taunton resident, died at the Life Care Center of Raynham on Dec. 7, 2011.
He was 86.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Manuel J. and Mary L. (Silvia) Drummond.
A 1944 graduate of Taunton High School, he later received an associate’s degree from Glendale City College.
Mr. Drummond was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of WW II.
He owned and operated Taunton’s Drummond Printing Co. for many years, and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Prince Henry Society, the Knights of Columbus, the Portuguese American Civic Club, Elks Lodge 150, the Boston Chapter of the 1st Marine Division Association, the China Marines Association, the Kiwanis Club, VFW Post 611, and American Legion, Post 405.
He will be remembered as a sports fan and avid supporter of New England teams.
He took great pride in his Portuguese heritage.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church, he leaves five sons, Mark W. Drummond and his wife Karen of Taunton, Paul Drummond of Clermont, FL, Brian D. Drummond and his wife Laura of Sebring, FL, William R. Drummond, Jr. of Brandon, FL, and Gregory P. Drummond of West Palm Beach, FL; a daughter, Mary Ellen Bate of Sebring, FL; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth of FL, Andrew of AK, Jennifer of Taunton, Kelly and Benjamin of FL, Jill of Taunton, Dustin, Brett and Derek of FL; and three great grandchildren, Avery, Ashton and Kyle.
He was also the brother of the late M. Dorothy Drummond and the grandfather of the late Robert Drummond.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Dec. 14th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at the MA National VA Cemetery in Bourne at 11:15 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Dec. 13th from 5 to 8 p.m.
